The mandolin is a member of the lute family (a stringed instrument with a neck and deep round back) that is played by plucking or strumming the strings. The most common version in this part of the world is the carved top model that comes in 2 shapes: A Style or Teardrop and F Style. The mandolin has 8 strings that is tuned to four unisons: 1st and 2nd string=E, 3rd and 4th string=A, 5th and 6th string=D and 7th and 8th string=G.

Mandolins are most commonly associated with Bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, Osborne Brothers) , Country (Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart, Vince Gill) and the Gospel music of the same styles . However, it can be heard on many rock tracks from a wide array of bands such as Led Zepplin, Styx, Rod Stewart, Heart, R.E.M., Dropkick Murphy's and System of a Down.

These are the Mandolins we currently have in stock.
